Growing Your Own Christmas Tree

I only have one request for Christmas this year. One simple wish. True it’s a four letter word, but they aren’t all bad you know. LOVE. That’s right. I want a loving relationship with a fabulous partner who is honest, fun, thoughtful, smart, funny, active, financially stable, emotionally available, and very attractive to me. Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so.

If you’ve never seen the British sitcom “Are You Being Served?” then you’re missing out. With dry English humor paired with some Benny Hill overtones the series was side splittingly funny. It was nice to get out on the trail again, and in early October the weather was just about perfect for this trip. The first day started with the ascent of Mission Peak. You can see pictures and read about that hike in my Mission Peak article on AC, or the Mission Peak post at my website.

It might seem obvious to non-reasoning gun-control advocates that if no one had guns, there would be fewer gun crimes. It’s easy to disarm peaceful, law-abiding people, however, and nearly impossible to disarm people who are not.

In spite of the perception that mass shootings are becoming more frequent, criminologists say that random shootings are not becoming more frequent according to the Associated Press. Grant Duwe, a criminologist with the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the author of a book on mass murders in America, says that mass shootings increased between the 1960s and 1990s, but that mass killings have decreased since 2000. Duwe says mass killings in the U.S. peaked in 1929. In spite of the emotional impact of random killings, the majority of murder victims know their killer.

The holiday season is when kids can truly be kids, no matter what their faiths, traditions or cultures are. Fortunately, there are companies like KidKraft that are sensitive enough to manufacture Jewish toys for Jewish kids.
