This past summer the family decided on a quick day trip from our Chicago suburban home to something fun and educational north of the Illinois border. We focused our sights on Cave of the Mounds in southwestern Wisconsin. Cave of the Mounds is located about twenty minutes west of Madison just off U.S. Highway 18 or 151 in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. We enjoyed the two hour road trip as we took more of a rural back road route exploring the hilly countryside driving past cheese shops and microbreweries in Green and Dane counties.

The Terra Cotta Warrior Exhibit at the National Geographic Museum in Washington, D. C. opened on November 19, 2009 and will run until March 31, 2010. The exhibit has been on loan to the United States for the last two years and was previously in Houston, Texas. The National Geographic Museum tour is the last stop for the exhibit on its two year tour in the United States.

Perhaps the oldest attraction St. Augustine has to offer is the Castillo De San Marcos, which is operated by the National Park Service. This coquina fort was built in 1672 – 1695 and offers visitors a spectacular view of former sea routes once traveled by Spanish and British soldiers. Another fort, Ft. Matanzas, is located fourteen miles south of St. Augustine. This historic site is also operated by the National Park Service and is only accessible by ferry.

During Depeche Mode’s summer 2013 North American tour the band will perform 19 concerts over a six and a half week time span. “There are so many die hard Depeche Mode fans who have been with us every step of this journey that I can’t wait to see. I also hope that we gain some new fans with the release of Delta Machine, and I look forward to exposing them to a great Depeche Mode live performance,” said Dave Gahan in an issued press release.

The 52-year-old has also been busy filming “The Christmas Candle”, which will be her big-screen acting debut. The film, due out this year, also stars Samantha Barks, who recently played Eponine in last year’s “Les Miserables”.
